Breeding Objectives

Our breeding objective is to breed functional Angus cattle with a balance of growth, fertility and carcase quality, backed by strong performance and pedigree drivers.

As a result of our location (the mixed farming region on the eastern end of Victoria’s Western District) and the make-up of our farm (7000 acres of winter crop, 5000/hd prime lamb turn-off and a 1500 sow free range piggery) commercial drivers also help determine our breeding philosophies. Our cattle are “put to the test” by the other enterprises run on the property which mean our cattle thrive in the real world. This natural selection process coupled with our commitment to independent structural assessment and full breedplan analysis provide our clients with great confidence that our bulls will “get the job done”.

2011 saw the commitment to our program increase with the purchase of a three quarter share in Te Mania Emperor, for an Australasian record price of $91000. Emperor is one of the most exciting bulls seen in the industry over the last decade and it is hoped that his genetics will help build of our program into one of the leading seedstock programs in the industry.
